The beauty of travel can be found in the littlest things.

Sometimes that means the jingle that blares up when you’re in the middle of eating breakfast, or shopping for Halal skincare in Malaysia.

Here are the top three commercial store songs in Malaysia that can boost one’s mood or give fuzzy feelings when exploring Halal taste and Muslim-friendly textures.

McDonald’s Terpaling MEKDI Song

From one angle, this sounds like a high school’s uplifting song when it’s time to sit for SPM (Malaysia’s equivalent to GCSE).

P/s: There are debates about McDonald’s and its connotation to Israel in the West. However, in Southeast Asia, the case is different.

McDonald’s may be a global company, but its franchises in different countries are often owned locally and operate independently.

In a 2023 statement by McDonald’s previous local operating owner Gerbang Alaf Restaurants Sdn Bhd, the fast food chain has now been acquired by Lionhorn Pte. Ltd, under Reza Group of Companies from Saudi Arabia – 100% Muslim-owned entity. And until now it employs many locals, too, in which Malaysia’s Muslim population accounts for up to 60%. Not many may realize this distinction.

Back to the song, comments on it encompasses all our feelings, 100 percent:

Whether you’re eating hotcakes or Nasi Lemak or the local style of Prosperity burger, this song is a bop, and it makes you feel like you can conquer the rest of the day ahead!

As the last comment mentioned, “Weird, why doesn’t McDonald’s want to upload this song…” We wonder too! Please upload them on spotify ?

Watsons Kaw Kaw Deals Song

Hunting for Muslim-friendly skincare in Malaysia? One cannot miss out on checking into Watsons.

Warning, this iconic jingle may be simple, and upbeat. But it’s highly repetitive nature makes it soooooo easy to remember. It can get stuck in your head, like how these British travelers said.

Did you know that the phrase “Kaw Kaw” in Malaysian slang means “plenty” or “a lot”? The song directly links this phrase with the idea of getting a lot of value for your money.

The song primes visitors to think about discounts, promotions, and great offers, which is a powerful shopping motivator for all types of Halal and Muslim-friendly beauty products available in the store!

The jingle is part of the local pop culture in Malaysia, which makes it a shared experience for many people who shop at Watsons. Even an Indonesian shopper said that he’s disappointed that this song is not there.

Guardian Beauty Days Song

Similar to Watsons, its competitor Guardian (which stocks a lot of Muslim-friendly and Halal beauty products) has a catchy and memorable jingle called “Beauty Days”.

The effectiveness of this easy-to-sing-along melody has become part of the local Halal beauty shopping experience, making it fun to stay and explore the different masks, lip products, and even toners in Guardian.

Some find the easy repetition annoying, but others find it enjoyable.

This lighthearted TikTok meme says it all, need us say more?
