An afternoon of soul-searching and intentional travel took place recently as Muslim women gathered for the “Journeys Within: Sisters Circle” in Bandar Seri Begawan. Hosted by Ilma Events, the workshop brought together a vibrant community of travelers seeking to transform global exploration into a journey of deep internal discovery.

Travel Vision Board: Crafting Intentional Travel Blueprint

The heart of the experience was Ruhfar’s signature Vision Boarding session, a collaborative effort with Muslim Solo Travel.

Led by Editor-in-Chief Farihah Awgku Fuaad, the session moved beyond the logistics of flights and hotels, guiding sisters through a creative process of mapping out spiritual milestones, deep-seated niyyah (intentions), and serendipitous inspiration. Using a blend of digital tools and physical art, the workshop empowered attendees to view their future travels through a lens of purpose, faith and Halal fun.

The spiritual depth of the afternoon was echoed by Mona, a participant, whose reflection resonated with the entire circle:

“I want to witness Allah… Witness Allah Al-Khaliq (The Creator). Every journey is an opportunity to see His signs in the world.”

Equestrianism for Muslimahs and Travel as an Opportunity To Grow One’s New Self

The circle featured insights from Bruneian avid travelers, who shared how their global experiences have shaped their character and faith:

  • The Sunnah on Horseback: Guest speaker Qamariah Yunos led a specialized sharing session on the spiritual rewards of horse riding across different countries. She explored how practicing equestrianism—a beloved Prophetic tradition—is a powerful way to revive the Sunnah and earn good deeds (hasanat/pahala) while navigating foreign landscapes.
  • The Traveler’s Growth: HappyBeFree Muslimah Co.’s Suhaila Kani shared a deep dive into the importance of personal growth and learning from every encounter on one’s travels. She discussed the traveler’s journey of “deleting the old mindset” to make room for new, transformative experiences, encouraging participants to embrace change as they explore the world. With Israk Mikraj happened recently, her Al-Aqsa journey touched many hearts during the circle.

A Shared Journey Forward

The “Sisters Circle” provided an intimate space for holistic growth, where practical advice on travel budgeting and diving certifications met deep spiritual reflection. The day served as a reminder of the power of community, allowing local Muslimahs to connect over shared values and the desire for more meaningful adventures.

The success of the workshop highlights a growing movement not just in Brunei or Southeast Asia, but globally—one where travel is no longer just about the destination, but about the lessons learned and purposeful connections made along the way.
