COTABATO CITY — In a historic milestone for the Muslim-majority Bangsamoro region, the Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT-BARMM) officially launched the 18th Regional Travel Fair (RTF) on Friday, August 14, at the Alnor Hotel and Convention Center.
Drawing regional and international tour operators, industry stakeholders, and key government leaders, the grand event marks a triumphant shift in how the region presents itself to the world.
Spearheaded by the MTIT Bureau of Tourism in partnership with the Phillipines Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the weeklong event underscores the ministry’s relentless drive to elevate regional destinations, empower local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and spur sustainable economic growth.
The excitement goes on until tomorrow, with free admission welcoming the public to explore and celebrate.
A Cultural Celebration of Resilience and Peace
The morning kickoff ceremony transformed into a vibrant showcase of the region’s rich cultural heritage and local treasures. Leading the official MTIT delegation were inspiring Muslimah leader and MTIT Minister Farserina A. Mohammad and MTIT Bureau of Tourism Director Marites K. Maguindra.
Delivering his keynote message to delegates, BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua reflected on the profound significance of hosting the prestigious event.
Hosting the 18th Regional Tourism Fair open doors for many Bangsamoro,” said Chief Minister Macacua.
“For many years, the story of BARMM was often associated with conflict. Today, we write another chapter in history, one that highlights our breathtaking landscapes and a resilient people who, despite difficult chapters, never stopped believing in peace and a better tomorrow.

Macacua warmly challenged attendees to become ambassadors of the Bangsamoro narrative.
