Editor’s Note: A stay at Al Meroz somehow felt like I was in Makkah for a sec. Might sound too overstretched, but it is what it is. The ladies wore hijab comfortably, and you felt at ease hanging out anywhere within and nearby the hotel’s vicinity!

Zayn Hotel Bangkok

One of the most popular Muslim-friendly hotels in Bangkok is Zayn Hotel. Suitable for the Halal-conscious traveler, this hotel is just 15 minutes away from Suvarnabhumi Airport and is a 2-minute walk away from Hua Mak MRT Station.

This hotel provides fully Halal catering from local and international cuisines in its restaurant, coffee, and tea lounge. However, there’s no pool at this hotel.

So, if you’re looking for a pool or a leisure solo stay in Bangkok, this might not be it.

Regardless, this hotel is perfect for Muslimah Solo Travelers on business travel to Bangkok or looking for a short overnight stayover near the airport.

Nouvo City Hotel

Nouvo City Hotel is one of the Halal-certified Hotels in Bangkok, Thailand.

This hotel is located in the old city of Bangkok. Perfect for those who want to be accessible to all centrally located attractions, like Grand Palace, Rama VIII Bridge, Thai’s main temples, and the mighty Chao Phraya River (walkable within 10 mins!)

Its award-winning restaurant, Sara Restaurant, has been serving an array of Halal cuisine from all over the world – think Thai, Indian, and so much more. The latest addition to the hotel, Canal Restaurant, is the place for a Halal buffet breakfast.

Even if you’re not planning to stay here, you can also try the food as a visitor. Do enquire about the hotel earlier on to know the latest rates.

Almas Hotel

Almas Hotel is located just next door to Al Meroz Hotel.

If you’re looking for a cheaper Halal hotel in Bangkok that doesn’t have all the frills but is just right for you to sleep overnight, then Almas Hotel in Ramkhamhaeng Road is your answer.

Unlike its neighbor, Al Meroz Hotel, which has a pool and gym facility, this one has a basic room stay and “just enough” amenities.

Halal breakfast is included, and according to word-of-mouth online, it says that if you ever need to use the pool, access to Al Meroz next door is provided for the guests.

P/s: When you stay around Almas or Al Meroz Hotel, don’t forget to check out the Sophia restaurant (located within walking distance). The Tom Yum Goong – is to die for!

Movenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15

Movenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 is one of the centrally-located Bangkok hotels for Muslimah Solo Travelers.

This is not a fully-serviced Halal hotel, unlike the ones mentioned above.

However, Halal food is available and clearly marked, compared to the non-Halal ones, making it Muslim-friendly.

And if that’s not enough, nearby, just a 10-minute walk away at Soi “street” Sukhumvit 3 or 5, you can get Halal Mediterranean and South Asian cuisines. That makes up for staying in a central location. Some nearby Halal restaurants to look out for are:

• Mahmoud Shawarma (directions and operating hours here)
• Bangladeshi food at Al-Hussain Restaurant (directions and operating hours here)

The hotel also has a gorgeous outdoor pool (mixed), providing an amazing skyline of central Bangkok. If you’re in it for the city views, book one that provides them!

Muslim-friendly area with easy access to Halal Food and affordable stays

With so many districts in Bangkok, the ultimate question can be, “Where to stay in Bangkok as Muslimah Solo Traveler?”

According to our Editorial & Community’s collective experience, the best Muslim-friendly areas are very much sparsed out.

It is important to manage your expectations when in a Muslim-minority country like Thailand.

So, if not having Halal food options at your hotels is fine, with the choice of having easy access to Halal food nearby, then these two areas are what you should consider:

Central: Ratchathewi area

Nearby Darul Aman Mosque in Phetchaburi Rd of Ratchathewi district, which is a five-minute walk away from Ratchathewi Train Station, you’ll find lots of Muslim-friendly restaurants, hostels, and even 2-5 star hotels.

Sukhumvit Road

The long stretch of this Road is Bangkok’s CBD.

Hence, you can find all kinds of high-end hotels like Movenpick available here. However, one place that you should avoid is Nana Plaza, which is just next to JW Marriott and The Landmark Bangkok. Why?

Avoid: Nana Plaza area (Red Light District)

Nana Plaza is Bangkok’s popular Red Light District.

This can be quite contrasting as across the huge highway on the other side of Sukhumvit road are plenty of Halal food Mediterranean restaurants as listed above.

Again, it is Bangkok. So, manage your expectations realistically.

But If You Want Easy Halal Access to everything In Your Bangkok Stay…

Then absolutely go for Al Meroz, Almas or Zayn hotels in Ramkhamkhaeng.

These are fully-fledged Halal hotels, so there is nothing to worry about at all, from eating to sleeping and even lounging by the pool.

What you should bear in mind, is that these hotels are pretty far from central Bangkok.

Unless you’re going to take the MRT, and depending on traffic conditions, let us say that traffic in Bangkok can be crazier, than Jakarta.
