Gone are the days when In-Flight Safety Video was a thing we would all just brush over. Having ridden a couple of flights myself, these days in-flight video production has definitely stepped up a notch and become a cinematic marvel of its own.

Malaysia’s national carrier recently dropped its “Where Culture Takes Flight” In-Flight Safety video, and here are some comments throughout the internet about it.

“You know what. I love this version more than the previous version. Clean, elegant, straight to the point, and beautiful!” says @afifadam776

“I really think that they should do it in dual-language, with Malay, like Cathay with Cantonese, doesn’t take much more time though” says @bryanyew3673

According to us at Ruhfar, here are some distinct highlights that accentuate MAS’ new identity as a premium national carrier.

A Calm, Elegant Takeoff

With the existence of AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines has now able to go distinct in their specialty: luxury. A very classy and engaging way to showcase Malaysia’s beauty and giving instructions clearly!

The entire video adopts a calmer, more cinematic, and elegant presentation compared to the high-energy musical style of its predecessor. Just as @aeroflightxv highlighted “Love the Liquid Glass aesthetic from Apple.”

In contrast to its fun predecessor, Malaysia Airlines’ in-flight safety video features a soothing yet upbeat soundtrack of traditional Malaysian instruments.

From Landmarks to Legroom: The Soul of Malaysia

Leading up to the country’s Visit Year, the multiple settings of this in-flight video couldn’t be any more creatively apt.

The majority of the video showcased safety demonstrations against the backdrop of Malaysian landmarks, including:

  • Stowing luggage and reminding device rules at the liquid glass seat in front of Putra Mosque in Putrajaya
  • Putting on the life vest at Sutera Harbour and dropping the oxygen mask at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, as instructed by a local Malaysian in their traditional Kadazan attire.
  • A stylish restaurant in Kuala Lumpur where the brace position is featured alongside favorite Malaysian food like nasi lemak and sirap lychee.
  • Wrapping the video Gombak’s Batu Caves, incorporating emergency exits and evacuation, featuring traditional Indian dancers.

Ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026: Harmony in Diversity

All in all, the video perfectly encapsulates these three highlights as mentioned by a user online:

  • It’s calming for tourists and not overwhelming.
  • It’s easy for tourist to understand about Malaysia’s essence of races & cultures.
  • Promoting tourism gems such as architectures, sceneries & cuisine/foods

This video couldn’t be more iconic as it blends essential safety instructions with the celebration of Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and diverse scenic destinations, aligning with the lead-up to Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Also recently, Malaysia Airlines took to the skies an all-women powered flight. See the highlights here.
